Hi I’m Naveed Anwar and I just ended my second week here as the new Sr. Director of PayPal Developer Network. I should be taking it easy and relaxing over Labor Day weekend but I wanted to share with you why I love working with developers, what I hope to accomplish here, and why I took this job.
I spent the last 3 years building the AOL Developer Network. Creating, enhancing and sustaining a developer community is all hard work. It isn't just about API's, SDK’s or tool kits. It is about a team of passionate evangelists working with you. It is about engaging with the community at multiple venues and developer conferences. It is about distribution, directories and promotion. It is about placing third parties into a business model enabling real cash to flow to them. It is about creating an entire ecosystem for the community. It is about lots and lots of communications, support and empathy as well as an ongoing commitment to provide for our evolving community needs.
So my challenge isn’t just to convince you why you should devote your engineering and development resources to integrating PayPal’s payment technology into your products and solutions, it’s also to make sure you have a voice at PayPal. I believe that payments are a key way for developers to grow revenue and here at PayPal our “motto” is to help you in any way we can. But the bottom line is I can’t convince you of anything without your help.
AOL developers will testify for how active and available I was in that community, and I plan to continue that tradition here at PayPal. I need YOU to tell me what I can do to best support you.
