Hi,

I am using lighttpd as webserver, yesterday I started to have troubles receiving IPN notifications, it looks like the problem is caused by a bug described here:

http://redmine.lighttpd.net/issues/show/1017

I could not analyze in detail if it is this problem with the 'Expect' header but it is quite probable.

Did paypal started to use this header when sending IPN POST requests recently?

This issue can be fixed by using Lighttpd 1.4.21:

http://www.lighttpd.net/2009/2/16/1-4-21-yes-we-can-do-another-release

but many people still use older Lighttpd versions like me on Debian stable so it is a annoying problem, would it be possible to stop sending the 'Expect' header in the IPN? Sure it is a lighttpd bug, not a problem with paypal, most people use Apache or other webservers and never experience this trouble but I am sure it is not just me who would appreciate this.

I bit the bullet and upgraded my servers to 1.4.22.  I added the setting "server.reject-expect-100-with-417 = "disable""to my lighttpd.conf and still no go.

Moving from Lighttpd 1.4.20 to Apache solved the missing IPN issues for us, thanks! If anyone's using LXAdmin there's a tab to update programs and you can change select a drop down menu option to move from lighttpd to Apache. A yum update lighttpd only moved us from 1.4.18 to 1.4.20.

I like Lighttpd more than Apache for a number of reasons.  It's a great web server, it's faster than Apache, and runs my Django apps better than Apache.
