A lotta questions there but I think most can be answered simply.
WPS does not involve a Merchant Account on your part; it is free-to-use PayPal service ("to use"; naturally per transaction fees still apply). Any subs management interfaces you setup should continue to work under an WPP account.
Once your account is upgraded the WPS processed payments will continue. You will manage them in your account interface much the same as at present.
WPP is a full blown Merchant Account driven Gateway processing interface, simply meaning the WHOLE webpage sequence for payments will be on YOUR website ONLY. But it is programming intensive and quite a bit of discreet conversation between servers happens to complete transactions.
I am unsure about the WPP web interfaces (your site web pages) being able to manage WPS activated subscriptions. I would hope a PayPal staffer will answer that for all of us. Hope that helps, regards.
